What are hormones?

Hormones primarily consist of endocrine glands- special families of cells found all over the body. Primary endocrine glands include: Pituitary gland, thyroid gland, thymus, adrenal glands and the pancreas. Hormones are considered key chemical messenger in the body, that is, you only need a small amount of it to observe a significant alteration in your body parts or tissues.

Both male and female are able to provide hormones other than it being produced in the sexual organs: men produce some hormones through the testes while women produce it through their ovaries.

Hormones are mostly grouped in four categories: Amino Acids, Eicosanoids, Peptides and Steroids.

When bodies of humans are in a normal state, a balanced range of hormones is yielded. Due to this, organs and tissues could function in the best way.

But when one or more hormones are fundamentally changed, it leads to a hormonal imbalance. There is a possibility that one can experience a shortage of a hormone or produce one in a much more than normal production.

One of the most common imbalance includes estrogen and progesterone in women. Both of this hormones are imbalanced because of varied reasons i.e. contraceptive pills, stress or could even include the use of make-up and other cosmetics.

On the other hand, males experience hormonal imbalance mainly because the male body alters testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This particular conversion could lead to hair loss.

It is essential to know that hormonal imbalance is not only applicable to females but to males as well. This is why, being informed about the proper balancing of hormones should always be fundamental to all humans. Hormones are important. Give them the attention that they deserve.
