1. What is testosterone?
Testosterone is a sex hormone naturally produced by the body that is responsible for the growth and development of the male sex organs and for the maintenance of other sexual characteristics. For men, testosterone is produced in the testes where sperm is also produced.

2. What are “normal levels” of testosterone
Normal levels of testosterone in healthy men range between 530 ng/dL and 1000 ng/dL where the brain and the testes are working together in equilibrium. The brain “signals” with hormones that stimulate testosterone production. These very same signal hormones are released periodically that keeps testosterone development going to avoid fluctuations.

3. What causes low testosterone
There are a lot of factors that can cause low testosterone such as the following: chromosomal abnormalities, undescended testes, cancer treatments and injuries on the testicle. Other causes include concurrent illnesses and medications, and aging.

4. What is testosterone replacement and its effects
Energy increase, decreased irritability and depression, significant improvement on muscle mass and strength, higher libido, improved visuospatial cognitive function and verbal memory, better moods, and decreased body fat.
