DHEA

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is secreted by the adrenal glands and the brain, and is the most abundant hormone in the body.  DHEA is vital in healthy functioning, as it is a precursor to androgens and estrogens (male and female sex hormones).  As a precursor to other vital sex hormones, DHEA restores libido and improves mood.  DHEA is also important in shifting the body from a catabolic state (breaking down) to an anabolic state, or more simply referred to as a protein building state.  DHEA stimulates the immune system and reduces cardiovascular risk by increasing lipolysis, the breakdown of visceral fat, thereby decreasing body fat and reducing cholesterol.
